Adam Caldwell
CEO & Executive Director

My name is Adam, and I bring over a decade of experience in environmental regulatory compliance and corporate sustainability consulting, largely in consultative sales. My journey in environmental consulting started out years before that, getting involved in local social and environmental issues within my community. During those days I was working with Lee Valley Tools, selling and troubleshooting some of the best woodworking tools in the industry. In the evenings I was organizing local campaigns on conservation, climate change and waste management while completing a degree in philosophy at Saint Paul University.

It was through that early community engagement that I landed my first job as an analyst for a local environmental compliance startup in Kanata, ON, Canada’s “Silicon Valley North”. There I worked on supply chain compliance auditing for global leaders in the high-tech and medical diagnostic equipment industries. I ultimately transitioned to sales and business development where I went on to develop service lines performing auditing, risk assessment and testing and verification services for a range of environmental regulatory compliance projects. My career transitioned to working in consultative sales for The EcoLogo Program and UL Environment, selling a range of environmental certification, claims validation and other sustainability consulting services. I was fortunate to work with some of the best minds in the sector, and many household-name customers.

Focusing on my passion for environmental and social issues in 2015 I undertook a Degree in Environmental Studies. With a grounding in geosystems and climate change, my academic work focused on Environmental Economics, Environmental Assessment law and Indigenous relations. I remained dedicated to social engagement, working with various NGOs on social and environmental initiatives and policy research. I published several articles on social and environmental issues, and co-authored a major Green Infrastructure policy report for Ecology Ottawa.

Most recently, prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic I was responsible for the strategic development and go to market plans for a new sales territory within a significant competitive market in geotechnical, groundwater and building envelope / indoor air monitoring analytical testing. During this time I was traveling widely, managing relationships with virtually every major geotechnical environmental consultancy in Eastern Canada. When the COVID-19 Pandemic hit, as with many industries, all of this work immediately stopped as the industry took stock.

In the summer of 2020 my family and I made the decision to move to British Columbia, and we are now currently located in beautiful Squamish, BC. I made this decision as when I was young I was diagnosed with a rare neurodegenerative disease called FSHD which leaves me with muscles that deteriorate, and this happens faster when they don’t get used. Suffice it to say icy, snowy winters aren’t my friend. But having FSHD has taught me to adapt, to push through obstacles and to be thankful for the small things in life. As a result I have deep appreciation for nature and compassion for those who are less privileged than myself.

Today, I’m focused on what I do well, which is communicating with people and understanding their perspective, and their needs. I am fortunate to live, work, and play in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh – Squamish BC, the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples.
